Free Water Service Line Inspection

Help St. Louis Identify Lead Pipes

As part of a city-wide initiative to comply with updated Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, the City of St. Louis is working to identify and inventory all water service lines throughout the city. This effort is a critical first step toward addressing and eventually replacing lead service lines that may pose health risks to residents.

Above and Below Contracting LLC has been contracted by the City of St. Louis to perform these inspections. We are reaching out to invite you to participate in this important public health and infrastructure project.

Why This Matters

Lead in drinking water can cause serious health issues, especially for children and pregnant women. While the City has implemented effective corrosion control treatments for over 20 years, identifying the material of your water service line is essential to ensure long-term safety and compliance with EPA mandates.

What We Offer

We will conduct a free inspection of your water service line, which includes:

  • Interior inspection of the service line where it enters your home. The material that is found immediately inside of the foundation is standardly indicative of what is running underground on the exterior of the home as well.
  • If necessary, we will perform a small exploratory dig (pothole) using hydro-excavation outside your home to verify the material of the service line. This dig is standardly 8-10” in diameter, and is restored immediately after completion; so the disruption to the property is extremely minimal.

This process is quick, minimally invasive, and helps the City build an accurate inventory of service line materials.
